For master musicians Allison de Groot & Tatiana Hargreaves\, traditional banjo and fiddle music is a way to interpret our uncertain times\, to draw artistic inspiration and power from the sources of meaning in their lives. History\, family\, literature\, live performance\, and environmental instability all manifest in the sounds\, feelings\, and sensations that permeate their music. Their 2022 sophomore album\, Hurricane Clarice is a direct infusion of centuries of matrilineal folk wisdom\, a fiery breath of apocalyptic energy. Individually they are both leaders in the young generation of roots musicians\, de Groot being known for intricate clawhammer banjo work with Bruce Molsky\, and Hargreaves bringing powerhouse fiddling to the stage with Laurie Lewis and David Rawlings in addition to teaching bluegrass fiddle at UNC-Chapel Hill. DESCRIPTION:There is a weekly bluegrass jam at The Gig on Sundays from around 1pm till 4pm.  In the fall and winter\, gig times can shift\, due to when the Packers are playing on television.  The Gig is a pub in the Riverwest area of Milwaukee\, so you must be 21 or older\, or with a parent or guardian to attend.  When the weather is nice\, the jam is outside on the back deck.

DESCRIPTION:Chicago-based quartet The Special Consensus is the crown jewel of the Midwestern bluegrass scene. Led by Greg Cahill\, banjo player and recipient of the prestigious Distinguished Achievement Award from the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA)\, the band also includes Dan Eubanks (bass)\, Greg Blake (guitar) and Michael Prewitt (mandolin). Together\, Special Consensus has received eight awards from the IBMA and two Grammy nominations (Scratch Gravel Road in 2012 and Rivers and Roads in 2018). They are four talented vocalists and instrumentalists who follow their creative desires without straying too far from their bluegrass roots.

DESCRIPTION:Molly Tuttle’s Grammy-winning bluegrass band Golden Highway is being disbanded\, and she is re-emerging with an all-girl band that is likely to have a louder sound. She revealed this titanic change on social media on Tuesday (5-13). Tuttle’s future dates will all feature the new lineup\, save for a headlining appearance at Rockygrass in Colorado with the Golden Highway lineup in late July. \n“Excited for a new chapter… Can’t wait to get out on the road this summer with an all new incredible band\,” Tuttle said in a statement. “We have been in rehearsals all week and I can promise you won’t want to miss this!” \n \n
