DESCRIPTION:When it comes to movers and shakers in the bluegrass world\, Full Cord is a super- \ngroup on the rise. \nAfter winning the prestigious 2022 Telluride Bluegrass Band Competition in \nColorado\, the Michigan-based group followed that with another much-coveted \nhonor when the International Bluegrass Music Association named Full Cord its \n“Momentum Award Band of the Year.” \nWhile mandolinist Brian Oberlin notes the band’s music “is new and fresh to the \nears of seasoned bluegrass fans\,” the bluegrass traditions in Full Cord have deep \nroots. \nThe group’s members – Brian Oberlin\, guitarist Eric Langejans\, bassist Todd \nKirchner\, banjo Max Allard  – boast decades of musical \nartistry\, with experience in popular performing bands from Michigan to Oregon. The group brings along top players to fill in fiddle and banjo to round out that rich bluegrass tone. \nThe band’s debut album on Nashville’s Dark Shadow Recording released in Nov. of 2023 and has maintained charting positions through spring of ’24. \nFull Cord’s songwriting has reached a new “tipping point\,”  Manager Katie Kirchner suggests\, enhanced by the group’s vast repertoire and robust experience in numerous band projects over the years. \nAnd Oberlin insists the band is “just hitting its stride” – ready to follow in the \nfootsteps of fellow Michigan bluegrass icons Billy Strings and Greensky Bluegrass \nas yet another star in the making.

The band originally featured four members\, all Italian\, bringing exceptional skill and passion to Irish traditional music and old-time American styles—a distinctive and remarkable combination.  In 2024\, they were joined by Enda Scahill\, a tenor banjo master\, award-winner\, All-Ireland champion\, and founder of We Banjo 3. With Enda\, Gadan expanded to a five-member band. Together\, Gadan and Enda Scahill performed at all the major Irish festivals across the US during August 2024\, marking the start of an exciting collaboration that will continue into the future. Their high-energy repertoire has a powerful live appeal\, with a unique identity. With three banjos—tenor and clawhammer—fiddle\, mandolin\, and guitar\, they create a distinctive “strings-only” sound\, driven by a powerful rhythmic pulse.  In 2025\, the band completed its line-up with the addition of Eric Long\, a clawhammer banjoist and singer-songwriter originally from the mountainous heart of Pennsylvania—a region deeply rooted in Appalachian tradition—and now based in San Francisco. Eric brings a raw\, authentic American folk soul to the group’s transatlantic sound\, further expanding their dynamic and diverse musical identity. Gadan’s performances build momentum\, sweeping the audience into ecstasy with their refreshing yet deeply rooted traditional sound.
